Good morning everyone. Today is my last day here in Palestine. As - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone. Today is my last day here in Palestine. As I pack my bags with a heavy heart and try to remember every detail of this place and the people Ive grown to love here I feel like I am doing so with each and every one of you here with me. To all of you who have followed the intense ups and downs of my reporting of the truth as I have experienced it here: there are no words to thank you appropriately and I am at a loss to express how much it has meant to me and how deeply moved I have been that so many of you have joined me on this journey. I will leave tomorrow morning for Turkey where I will visit a friend very briefly before coming home. I will be leaving Facebook starting this evening (Palestine time) until I arrive back in the US. My students here have sent their thanks for all of your supportive comments and interest in the human side of this conflict from the Palestinian perspective, one which is nearly invisible internationally. You have all helped to change that by following my efforts to accurately record what I have seen and experienced here. Thank you. I wish there were better words but thats all I can say. Please keep Palestine in your hearts and keep searching for the truth behind the dominant narrative that seeks to demonize the other in order to manufacture consent for the continuation of 66 years of injustice here in Palestine. As I take the first step toward leaving this place I feel like Im also taking the first step toward coming back. Peace to everyone from Beit Ummar. Peace to everyone from the rolling hills, the olive trees, the vineyards, the peach and apricot trees, the villages and towns dotting the impossibly beautiful landscape of this place; peace to everyone from among the kindest and bravest people Ive ever met. Peace to everyone from Palestine.
