Good morning everyone. Today we start to slow process of drying - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone. Today we start to slow process of drying out. There may be some isolated to scattered t-storms and rain showers around today into the rest of the week...but baring some unforeseen outcome it appears that the floodgates of heaven have been closed as far as more flooding rains are concerned. Many arroyos in the area continue to drain into the Pecos River and this will continue for another day or so. Just before midnight Sunday night Dark Canyon peaked at 21.62 feet deep with a flow of 92,700 cubic feet of water per second. This now makes the second highest level ever measured in Dark Canyon in Carlsbad...exceeded only by the 22.00 foot level it reached on August 23, 1966. The water came to within one foot of topping the Canal Street bridge next to La Tienda Sunday night. Rainfall totals in the past 14 days to two weeks have now exceeded 20 inches in Eddy County. If you would like to list your 14-day and two week totals in the comments below I would love to see them. My family and I would again like to thank each and everyone of you for your kind words, prayers, and words of comfort during this sad time for us. Please keep my family in you prayers, especially my mother...she has lost two of her daughters now.
