Good morning everyone, recently myself along with my department co-workers was ask to create a brief biography of ourselves to be put our upcoming department folder; in which is cool way to get to know each other professional background. I want to share a little of myself what do you think? As a kid I was a big fan of police dramas such as the original Hawaii Five-0 and Starkey and Hutch. I can vividly remembering wanting to be a police officer at nine years old. As I growing up I was raised in neighborhoods where crime was a daily theme. I had my share of bullies and witnessed abused, I constantly had to defend myself. I’ve grown tirelessly of these confrontations as I got older and I wanted to my part to stop it. I noticed something irregular with me appearance and the discomfort health wised at 17 after the concerns from my mother, we went to see our family doctor at the time and got a thorough physical and x-rays. At this visit I’ve learned that I had an advance curvature of the spine, known as scoliosis. I was told I required surgery due to the severity but this didn’t take place until I was 19. After a major back surgery my dream of becoming a police officer faded. Doctors told me in my case I won’t be able to do that kind of work. I didn’t give up; in 1997 at 25 I joined Pinkerton Security and Investigations working a downtown high-rise and various additional assignments. I started working a Reynolds & Reynolds in 1997 where I went through many positions at the time throughout the Dayton, Moraine, and Kettering area which included the Control Center (dispatch), perimeter patrols, access controls, security gates, and customer service desks. In 1999 I trained and studied through the Ohio Peace Officer Course at Sinclair where I learn various functions to perform professionally as a security officer, trained for armed and unarmed situations, and completed and pass a security worker II exam with City of Dayton. Under the watchful eye of my mentors I continued my commitment I climbed and took initiative role as first shift supervisor with Pinkerton at Reynolds & Reynolds unit 2003. That same year still working for Pinkerton now Securitas (until 2004) I was given the opportunity to work with the team at Children’s Medical Center later named Dayton Children’s. What I brought with me is my work ethics, professional customer service, and team oriented attitude. Before my arrival here at Dayton Children’s I thought I’ll pick up training as a CPR instructor so I trained and volunteered with American Red Cross. Working with Dayton Children’s my customer service widely ranged from parking services, badges and access control, background checks, way finding program continually maintaining my work ethics, team building, and customer skills. A history about myself as a teen I got into my love of basketball, martial arts, poetry, and became an accomplished portrait artist in drawing and painting. My high school art instructor submitted a self portrait into the Dayton Art Institute after being impressed of how far I came along. I’m a huge fan of contact sports (i.e.: boxing, wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts, and street football), action and horror movies. Late 2011, I gained interest to learn more about federal income tax then completed the course and gained a position with H&R Block for the 2012 season. I walk a fine line in life by watching and learning from mistakes of others. When I’m alone I meditate to ease stress by using the yin yang finding my inner balance.
