Weather Situation A high in the Great Australia Bight will push dry air across much of southern Queensland and the central interior. An upper trough will contract off the southeast coast early this morning but will maintain instability over central and northern Queensland. A southeasterly change will move through southeast Queensland this evening and extend along the east coast over the weekend with a firm ridge developing along the east coast. Forecast for the rest of Friday Early morning showers over the states southeast clearing to a fine and mostly sunny day. A medium to high chance of showers and storms in a band from the northwest of the state, across the northern interior and down to the Capricornia and Wide Bay coasts. Some of the storms may be severe about the Capricornia and Central Coast districts. The northeast tropical coast should remain fine and mostly sunny. Fine and sunny conditions through the southwest and southern interior will extend northwards into the Central West and North West districts. Moderate south to southwest winds over much of the state, fresh at times over the interior. Moderate northeast sea breezes developing along much of the east coast. Fire Danger - Severe over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and very high over the southern districts and central west. _______________________________________________________ Todays official forecast for the Herbert and Lower Burdekin and surrounds.
