Weather Situation A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will move slowly east towards New Zealand during the next few days, maintaining a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. The monsoon trough is expected to develop across the northern Gulf of Carpentaria and northern Coral Sea through the week. An upper level trough extends over southern and central parts of the state and is expected to shift northwards over the next few days.
