Weather Situation A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will move slowly east towards New Zealand during the next few days, maintaining a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. The monsoon trough is expected to develop across the northern Gulf of Carpentaria and northern Coral Sea through the week. An upper level trough extends over southern and central parts of the state and is expected to shift northwards over the next few days. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Showers and the chance of some storms about the eastern districts, spreading to rain at times with some locally heavy falls about the coastal fringe of the North Tropical Coast and the Central Coast. A slight to medium chance of showers and storms through the southern and central interior.
