Good morning friends! Thank you all so much for your birthday blessings - I had a wonderful 55th birthday. I am thankful for each one of you, and pray that God continues to bless you all. You are all a great encouragement to me! We have a further report from Julia Hendrickson about her friend, Rick. The surgery went well, and he is now in recovery. Please pray for him, as his life is still in danger, and that he recover fully. Thank you all for your prayers. Excerpts from Psalm 107 - O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to You among the nations. For Your mercy is great above the heavens, and Your truth reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Your glory above all the earth; That Your beloved may be delivered, save with Your right hand, and hear me. Lord, we thank you for all your goodness and faithfulness. We bring Rick before you this morning, and pray for your great healing touch upon his life. We thank you that you are the same yesterday, today and forever, and that you still heal people today. Make him whole again, that he might sing and shout your praises, and glorify your name. Work in all of our hearts today. Give us hearts that desire to please you. Help us to guard our hearts with all diligence from the enemy. We give you our hearts. Fill us with the love of God this day, and make us more like you. AMEN! Acts 17:1-9 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.” And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas. But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. Jason has harbored them, and these are all acting contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king—Jesus.” And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things. So when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go. Paul and Silas were called to Macedonia. They had trouble in Philippi and were thrown into prison and beaten. But God also worked among the people there, and many were saved, and followed our precious Lord. Now they moved on to the city of Thessalonica. They went to the synagogue first and reasoned with them for three Sabbaths from the Scriptures, explaining how Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and they proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah. Some of the Jews were persuaded, and a great multitude of Greeks and devout women joined Paul and Silas and believed. It seems that most of the Jews were not persuaded, and got angry at Paul and Silas. It was the same in the days of Jesus. The religious leaders, over and over again, rejected Jesus and His teachings. They stirred up trouble for Jesus, and now they stirred up trouble for Paul and Silas. They were accused of turning the world upside down. They were accused, just like Jesus was. They accused Jesus of saying he was the king of the Jews. They accused Paul and Silas of saying that Jesus was king over all. They stirred up the crowds and the rulers of the city. The rulers took charge of the situation and restored order, and they let Paul and Silas go. How is my testimony for God? Do people even know that I am a Christian, or do I just hide my light, for fear I might be ridiculed? We can all be brighter lights for Jesus. If our hearts are on fire for Him, and Jesus becomes our greatest passion, we will not be able to stop from telling others about Him and His great love. Where is my passion? Do I love the things of this world, more than spending time with Jesus? Let us examine our hearts this morning, and give Him all of our hearts. I need Jesus - we all need Jesus - we need to know Him better - we need to fall passionately in love with Him - He will turn our world upside down - and we will be bright lights in this dark world. Let us give Him all of our hearts, and He will work mightily through us by His Spirit to be a great light for Him. Walk with the King today, and be a blessing! I leave you with the hymn, Send the Light. There’s a call comes ringing o’er the restless wave, “Send the light! Send the light!” There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save, Send the light! Send the light! Refrain: Send the light, the blessed Gospel light; Let it shine from shore to shore! Send the light, the blessed Gospel light; Let it shine forevermore! We have heard the Macedonian call today, “Send the light! Send the light!” And a golden off’ring at the cross we lay, Send the light! Send the light! Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound, “Send the light! Send the light!” And a Christlike spirit everywhere be found, Send the light! Send the light! Let us not grow weary in the work of love, “Send the light! Send the light!” Let us gather jewels for a crown above, Send the light! Send the light!
