Good morning friends ! Today is Earth Day. It comes every year this day n passes off with seminars, workshops, lectures n lot of tokenism. They r all well meaning programmes but hardly change anything. Every morning at 7.30 my son Rishi drives his elder son Ashish to school in his biggish car . Again at 9 A M its time to drop the little one to his school in a different school in same direction. What a waste of time , effort n above all precious fuel. This car can very comfortable 5-7 kids to school saving at least five trips to school n 80% fuel n traffic congestion n air pollution . We live in Bivar Road, a low population density with very few school going children near by. The best solution to this problem wud b an effective school bus network which is still a far cry. Why cant parents in housing colonies pool their cars n work out an arrangement to benefit everyone ? Children sharing a car will promote friendship n a spirit of sharing which is dwindling with single child family becoming a norm rather than exception. Let us take this issue seriously from today n look around for friends n neighbours to pool our cars. This single action can take care of lot of environment related issues n promote friendship n goodwill among children. Instead of just wishing happy Earth Day to each other lets make it a really happy Earth by reducing the load on our roads, environment , time n pockets ....
