Good morning, friends, fellow RSD/CRPS Fighters, & Pain - TopicsExpress

Good morning, friends, fellow RSD/CRPS Fighters, & Pain Warriors, Whether youre traveling today, weathering actual snow storms or blizzards, staying at home with family and friends, or preparing a feast fit for kings, please stay safe, and take the time to take stock of your life and be mindful for all you have that allows you to enjoy the life you live. While it may be easier to look at what we dont have or circumstances that wed like to be different, it always is beneficial to be grateful for what we do have now, because what responsible parent would shower additional gifts and privileges on an already ungrateful child. Further blessings come with showing sincere gratitude, and concern for others less fortunate than ourselves. With that being said, I hope that everyone stays safe today, is not encumbered by pain of any kind, and has a good time over this holiday season. Youre in my prayers daily. This mornings devotionals are: Is It Really Defeat? Defeat and feat are sometimes close together, and one can change into the other. So defeat is only what a person makes it. Defeat can be the crushing of an ambition, the end of a struggle, the acceptance of a minor role, and even the transformation of one into a walking corpse. On the other hand, it can be a look to another day, a renewal of will, a remaking of plans, and a fresh stimulus to greater efforts. If the latter is true, then defeat is not defeat. Just cessation. The war goes on, and the outcome is not determined by one battle. Fight on! Fight on! But in ourselves are triumph and defeat. --Henry Wadsworth Longfellow We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. --II Corinthians 4:8,9 Calmness in Vexations Mind is stronger than vexation. An annoyance shall disturb us only if we permit it. So let us be too big and too disciplined to be vexed by small matters or testy circumstances. Of course, a gnat can be very annoying, but we are too rational to be overwhelmed by it. The same sanity should be exercised in handling all unpleasantries, irritations and harassments. We should give ourselves a mental tranquilizer whereby we save ourselves from tattered nerves. Then, as we meet our problems in complete control of ourselves, strengthened with calmness and resoluteness, we find the solutions easier. Remember to preserve a calm soul amid difficulties. --Horace (65-8 B.C.) ...but they themselves are slaves of corruption, since people are enslaved to whatever defeats them. --II Peter 2:19 (CSB) Imperfection Walks the Earth Imperfection--now thats a field in which man stars. The very greatest men have shown great faults, faults that seemed to be all the greater in contrast with their shining virtues. Noah, Abraham, David, Solomon and Peter are but a few of the names that adorn the pages of excellence whose lives were blotched with imperfections. The loftiest people of highest pursuits, while racked with imperfection, are the pursuers of perfection. Things and lives get better only as imperfections are overcome. As long as we recognize our flaws and pray and work to mend them, were making progress on the high road. How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them. --Benjamin Franklin Let us go on unto perfection. --Hebrews 6:1 I included a third devotional today, as a little added bonus for the Thanksgiving holidays that will begin later today. I hope that they all bless you greatly as we gather together with family and friends to break bread and have a memorable time. Once again, have a safe Thanksgiving.
