Good morning from the north woods. Snow expected today and below zero temperatures tomorrow. Winter in Maine. Prayer tonight at 6:30. Time to come out of winter hibernation and join those who are effecting eternity. Join with us as we pray for Becky who undergoes surgery this morning. She is expected home tomorrow or Tuesday. May all go better then expected. Lloyd is undergoing daily radiation treatments for the next five weeks. Mike is on the road and possibly heading into a winter storm . Bob returns from his road trip into Canada tomorrow night. Alan faces some issues with his life and would appreciate some prayer. Kim works her first full day today after her chemo treatments. Pastor takes chain saw in hand today to cut up firewood. Protection is appreciated. They are waiting for a new client that could be arriving any day. We are missing Chris and Carla and family. Great to see Martha and Becky yesterday. Loved those Webber family singers yesterday. Claires song sounded like angels singing along with her. Jason with the worship team is doing a great job on leading us in music minus a piano player. Janice was heard saying she can play by ear? How exciting is that? Throw in a violin and a horn and we might just think we have died and gone to heaven. Thank you Richard for prompt posting of the message so people can hear. Jason and Melinda may need some help this weekend moving boxes and furniture into temporary storage. Can you be available to help? Will post specifics when they are known. Robin received a gift of grace which has enabled her to continue in Bible School. God is faithful in who He uses to bless others. From the Shepherds point of view: January 11, 2015 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you at the proper time. 1 Peter 5:6 There is one group of words that anyone who has ever worked outside the home loves to hear. You have been promoted brings not only the sense of pride in a job well done but usually a larger pay check as well. Promotion by the worlds standards usually means you have out performed your peers and are being recognized for it. Of course it might sometimes mean you are related to the boss or know how to kiss his or her. uh....hand. Promotion is not always justified with the places we work but not so with God. He has only one requirement for promotion. Humility. It is not based on how tall we are or educated or even the job we have done. It is Gods grace responding to humility. What is humility? Watchmen Nee, the Chinese evangelist defined it as, not thinking too much of yourself, not thinking too little of yourself, it is not thinking of yourself. Humility is the ability to submit to the authority of God and recognize His delegated authority in the lives of those He places in our lives. It is characteristic of one who has been broken from the need to be recognized or appreciated. It is the capacity to adjust to the sovereignty of God as His plan in our lives unfolds. It is the absence of reaction and the ability to submit to the Word regardless of situations. There is no need to wear a title or sit in the front seat even though God may choose to place you there. Humility easily adjusts to people and circumstances with the aroma of Christ. Humility has no personal agenda but is rather totally submitted to the will of God. Humility loves to see God promote others and rejoices when others rejoice. Humility waits for God to promote. Years ago while I was struggling with where I fit into the body of Christ the Lord directed me to the life of Moses. Moses tried a little self-promotion and found it does not work in the economy of God. He needed a little humility.Forty years in the wilderness with a burning call in the heart is a long time to wait. But each day he shoveled manure and pastured his flock of goats. Then one day everything changed. God showed up in a burning bush. The call was defined and his life forever changed. The same is true with us. When God wants to use us and the time is right He will arrange for a burning bush experience where you will hear from God and everything will change. Until He does He is forming in us what is needed. Desperate for God to use you or desperate for others to recognize you? God will promote those desperate for God. He sends those wanting to be recognize to the wilderness. Have to go now. Time to shovel some manure.
