Good morning, happy November 11th. Its a beautiful day to be alive, and to believe in Biology Today. Today I need to discuss Seed Savers Exchange. Because I love the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Im starting to like Georgia. As does the cover of some Campbell Biology textbooks, the American green tree frog Hyla cinerearogs is admired in Georgia as the state Amphibian. The state butterfly is the Eastern tiger swallowtail (Papilio glaucus), its beautiful - just like their state flower! Rosa laevigata a ( Cherokee rose). Im picking on Georgia MissMay Rudderow because Bioengineering majors teach us its not just about beauty, but also about interactions with our environment (speaking of random @ symbol :X Dear Fox News, a Friendly Wager on Georgia going Blue in 2016?). The state fruit of Georgia is the Fruit: Peach. Color: Bright Blue. Random: Yes, very much so.. Apple seeds, The Peach Seed, and Apricot SEED all contain Poison. Apple and crabapple seeds contain Amygdalin, a Cyanide and sugar compound that Degrades gracefully into Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) when metabolized. Cyanide itself is a poison that kills by denying blood the ability to carry oxygen and thereby causes its victims to die. Peach and Apricot seeds contain enough to kill a human being. Not trying to ramble on about poison, that being said, I think that Georgia needs to remember to not bite into the peach seed (political, food based, or otherwise). My amazon Biology textbook is almost here, so soon Ill just be copy pasting out of a real masterpiece.
