Good-morning, happy Thursday! Who is your mentor? Are they your counselor, an advisor, a spiritual guide or your confidant? Our insight will begin with our 11th of 96 Gifts From God @ Invisible Leadership through faith alone in Christ alone: Mentoring The “11th of 96 Gifts From God @ Invisible Leadership” is about Jesus demonstrating to us the Christian Way of Life. He showed us what an invisible leader in the Church Age could accomplish living inside the divine power system. He functioned in this prototype divine power system, which is exactly what we have, with the exception of us not having a perfect body. The prototype divine power system is the sinless person Jesus, operating within Satan’s worldly influence. Because of his virgin birth, Jesus lived, walked and functioned as a perfect human being in this corrupt world. Hebrews 7:26 “For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;” 1 Peter 2:2 “WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH.” For further reading: John 8:46; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 3:5 The corrupt world is interesting because it is strongly influenced by Satan and his methods, coupled with our depraved nature. Luke 4:6-7 “And the devil said to Him, “I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.”” Colossians 2:8 “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” Most believers make the mistake of thinking this is Satan’s world, but it isn’t. He is only a pretender thinking he owns someone else’s property as in Isaiah: Isaiah 14:12-14 “How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! “But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’” Psalm 24:1-2 “The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers.” Jesus was tempted everyday and there never was a time when he wasn’t. That is why the writer of Hebrews says: Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” (Further reading: Hebrews 12:3-13; Luke 14:25-33) In order for Jesus to provide salvation, he had to go to the cross even though he was sinless and had “to be made sin on our behalf.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 1 Peter 2:24-25 “and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.” This is what is called an imputation — ascribing or attributing something to another person. In the case of salvation, the requirement is faith alone in Christ alone. We must believe in Him (Jesus Christ) to possess eternal life (John 3:16) then all qualifications are then met. In the book of Philemon, Paul is writing to Philemon concerning an escaped slave whose name is Onesimus. The escaped slave became a believer and Philemon should welcome him back as a brother. If, Onesimus had owed or stolen anything, erase it from his account and put it on my account. Imputation is transferring something (like a debt) to another person. Philemon 17-18 “If then you regard me a partner, accept him as you would me. But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to my account.” Once you understand that the humanity and deity of Jesus remained separate and distinct in one (perfect) body and with the two attributes never mixing, puts significant emphasis on what Jesus did in the first incarnation. (Human Nature: John 16:28; 17:11; Acts 1:9-11. Divine Nature: Matthew 18:20; 28:20; John 14:23.) Every statement, action and interaction between man and nature becomes extremely important. A lot of believer’s study the Life of Jesus Christ to understand what Jesus did during his visit on earth, realizing we have the capability, the privilege thus a the potential and the same opportunity in our Christian Way of Life. When I think of Jesus as the God-man walking on planet earth, I visualize His interactions with the disciples. I think specifically of the incident of “Peter’s Walk On Water” (Matthew 14:22-33; Mark 6:45-52; John 6:15-21). It shows perfect abilities of Jesus to rule nature and simultaneously share with Peter (to walk on the water). This ability could have extended to all of His apostles at the same time. The God-man, Jesus was one with the universe because He is the creator. How did John say it? John 1:1-5 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” Enjoy your Thursday that God has given you and feel free to share this devotion if your so inclined. God-bless...
