Good morning, lovelies. After a somewhat, erm, interesting night - TopicsExpress

Good morning, lovelies. After a somewhat, erm, interesting night on Facebook, we have come to a decision of what to do with our contest. Many points were raised and suggestions made about the fairest way to select a winner of Miss Betty Bubs and through in-depth discussion with my fiancé, who is also about to finish his law degree, we have based our decision on legal principles. As there were very little terms and conditions for the contest, we have decided that we must abide by the initial terms, being that the picture with the most votes by Friday the 24th of January (at 8:00pm) will win. We have decided this for the following reasons: - We have no way of proving that a profile that voted is most definitely fake. - Even if we could determine that a profile was fake we would have no way of proving that an entrant did, in fact, request these fake profiles to vote for their picture. - The contest terms only stipulated that the picture with the most votes would win, we did not have the foresight to anticipate that there may be supposedly fake profiles entering and did not state that this would not be allowed. - It would be unfair to disqualify anyone without evidence to prove cheating. - It would be unfair to draw a random winner as the competition was to be based on votes and this would penalise everyone who has participated. - Since the issue was raised last night about supposed fake profiles, anyone may have had the chance to vote on competitiors pictures with a fake profile in order to have them disqualified. I hope you will all appreciate and understand our reasoning. We have never run a contest like this before and were clearly naive in our planning. What was supposed to be an informal bit of fun has certainly turned out very different to what we anticipated. We will never run a contest like this again and, in hindsight, would never have run this one had we known this sort of thing would happen. We will chart this up to experience and wont let it dampen the spirit of our business or this Facebook page. Next time we will just be more creative in the way we organise it and will have something along the lines of an impartial judging panel. Everyone who has entered is a previous customer and we have the utmost respect and appreciation for our customers and hope that you have not been offended at all by this. We will always strive to be as fair as possible and view things objectively, rather than subjectively.
