Good morning my FB Fam, I am Bruce A. Trezevant, I have worked hard in many communities thought South Carolina to make this state a safer and better place to live via Project Unity USA. My father was a great man that moved quietly, but made big strides in the Black Community of South Carolina. My Father Mr. Ezekiel H. Trezevant, Jr. Passed away on this past Monday November 14, 2014. Just a few highlights about my father. He was the First Black man to serve on the South Carolina Funeral service board He opened the first Black owned Crematorium in the state of South Carolina Trezevant Funeral Home and Crematorium is currently the ONLY know Black owned Crematorium in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia Mr. Trezevant was instrumental in the writing of the Cremation Laws for the State of South Carolina Mr. Trezevant along with Mr. James Hardy and Mr. R.L Thomas were the first black men to join the Knights of Columbus Catholic Fraternity Council 724 Fourth Degree Mr. Trezevant held the position of South Carolina Board of Funeral Service President I would be honored greatly if you would pick this story up and run with it. PS: Below please find a copy of his Obit Obituary Services for Ezekiel Hilliard Trezevant, Jr will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church with burial at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Friday November 28, 2014, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Trezevant Funeral Home (Eva P. Trezevant memorial Chapel) Born in Greenville, S.C. May 14, 1931, Mr. Trezevant was the son of the late Mr. Ezekiel Hilliard Trezevant Sr., and Mrs. Eva Prileou Trezevant. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister Carolyn Trezevant and one son Dennis B. Trezevant, Sr. A parishioner of St. Martin de Porres, he graduated from C.A. Johnson High School class of 1950, matriculated at Allen University then graduated from Atlanta College of Mortuary Science. He honored his country by serving tours of duty in the United States, Korea, and Germany. He received numerous awards including the esteemed Infantry Badge. Noted for his leadership skills and abilities Mr. Trezevant held membership in numerous organizations: Knights of Columbus Catholic Fraternity Council 724 Fourth Degree, Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, SC Morticians Association District 2 Governor and State Convention Coordinator, SC Board of Funeral Service President, Carolina Classic Car Club President and Treasurer, SC Combat Veterans Group, Board of Directors Antioch Senior Center, and others. Trezevant’s statistical foresight led him to launch the first known minority owned crematorium which he conjoined to Trezevant Funeral Home. Survivors include one sister Rosary Neasey, four sons, Ezekiel (Gina), Bruce, Samuel (Shondlyn) and one daughter Gail (Ira), 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, extended family Albert Belcher, Doris Trezevant, Vicki Thomas, Elizabeth Trezevant, Rosa Williams, and Calvin Breeland.
