Good morning my friends. I hope everyone is feeling like a million - TopicsExpress

Good morning my friends. I hope everyone is feeling like a million dollars when you get up. I’ve been up since 3:00 and don’t feel too bad for the shape I’m in. I have an appointment at 7:30 or so with one of those dentists who love to see you coming because he knows you are going to help him substantially toward his retirement. However, in this case he might be disappointed, I might just have the tooth yanked out and get me one from Walmart, after all you can get just about anything there and at a pretty cheap price. I actually got along pretty well yesterday with my tooth and didn’t cry with pain like I did a few days earlier. I have been taking penicillin tablets…maybe I had an infection or maybe the Good Lord heard my entreaties and just answered my prayers. Well, we had yet another get together last night and this time with my family. You know, I just haven’t been sitting around and thinking about the size of my family and lots of time I just take them for granted, shame on me. Maybe I should actually have been doing that often because when I saw some of them last night it was as if some of the young ones have grown up before my eyes. It can be a very sobering moment when you are now confronted with so many quite beautiful young ladies who were just a few days ago, toddlers. What’s happening to me? Is it my memory or is that time now flies by at the speed of light and I have just missed them as they passed me by. I am extremely grateful to have my family and treasure my relationship with them, but it would be a whole lot better if we could get together more often. Vickie and I are so tired and I think we finally realized this year that keeping up with our normal frenetic pace at Christmastime is not as easy as it used to be. I was determined to watch the late news last night to see if they were going to show a picture I sent in, but I got to watching Turner Classic Movies and guess what came on, “Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier.” Man, I was tempted to jump out of bed and see if I could find my coonskin cap I wore in 1955. I’m willing to bet you that there are some of us boys that still have one of those things stuck somewhere. I was one of the writers of a frontier play that Mrs. Hethcox’s class put on when I was in the fifth grade. We boys toted long guns that were made from broom handles nailed to hand-carved stocks and then painted black. I remember that Gary Ervin was one of the Indians. If you were a boy in 1955 and did not have a coonskin cap, something was the matter with you. Every one of us boys wore a coonskin cap in the play, unless they were an Indian, of course. Anyway, I didn’t see the late news and it was almost midnight when I finally gave up and turned out the light. Vickie came to bed and lay in there at least three minutes before I heard her gentle breathing. Women don’t snore; they just delicately breathe in and out and make cute little sounds. She was one tired little puppy…I could tell by the delicate log-sawing going on. Well, I suppose I and better hit the shower, it’s almost 4:00 now and I would like to get to the gallery and take a nap before going to the dreaded dentist. I hope you all have a good day and might even see the sun shine for a bit. We will be open a little later tonight and tomorrow night, too, but will be closing early, around 3:00, on Christmas Eve. I would stay open until 3:30 on Christmas Eve if you promise to buy a million dollars’ worth of stuff. Be kind, be gentle, and above all, be generous during this season of giving. Give the gift of love and understanding, you will be glad you did and they won’t even have to take it back because one size fits all. God Bless!!
