Good morning my friends. I hope your night was a good one and you - TopicsExpress

Good morning my friends. I hope your night was a good one and you got at least three or four hours of sleep. This time of year, Santa Claus hardly sleeps…he is having to constantly check on his elves and making sure they are on schedule getting the toys ready for Christmas. Some of these newfangled toys are much more complicated than others and need more than one elf to accomplish the job of getting them ready in time for Christmas. That is what my first children’s book, “The Perfect Christmas Eve,” is all about. I had a wonderful time reading “The Perfect Christmas Eve,” to our daughter, Lisa’s, second grade class at Park View School yesterday. While we were there, we moseyed across the hall from her class and read to Mrs. Derberry’s class, too. It was lots of fun and to have our own two little elves to accompany us was an extra treat. We then went from Park View School, and took the elves with us, to Rocky River School and read the book to Mrs. Pickard’s class. We all had a great time. One of the students at Park View even brought her book and read it along with me. Just seeing the faces of the children as I read was pure joy and made me once again wish that I was about seven or eight years old. Oh, the wonders of Christmas through the eyes of a child. And when one becomes a parent or grandparent, the joy returns as one experiences the wonder of Christmas again, but this time, vicariously through the eyes and minds of the children. Ain’t life grand? I visited my long-time friend, Jack Moore, at Turner’s Hardware yesterday to get my much needed dose of popcorn when my attention drifted up to the ancient shelves. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, a brand-spanking-new Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun. If my parents were living today, they would still have trouble buying the gun for me, they are now $149.00. They were only about seven dollars when Santa Claus brought mine for me. It’s no wonder why old Santa’s hair is white. That awful inflation thing is taking its toll on the old man. With today’s prices of Purina Reindeer Chow and the everyday cost of keeping the sleigh up, it’s a wonder Santa Claus can stay in business. But, we all know Santa and nothing will keep him from his appointed rounds on Christmas Eve. I apologize for yesterday’s overly-long letter, but sometimes I lean toward a bit of verbosity to get everything said. I have not yet learned to use an economy of words to convey what is on my muddled mind at 3 or 4 in the morning. Ergo, you get what you get. So, after saying those words, I will say goodbye for the day and wish you all a successful day. And if you find that you have a little extra time on your hands, you might volunteer, as the little boy did in my book, and help some of Santa’s elves get all those toys ready for “The perfect Christmas Eve.” God Bless!!
