Good morning my friends. June 6, the 70th anniversary of D-Day, has come and gone but not our memories of the stories that some of the veterans have shared with us over the years. Many tears were shed last night as we watched the story on the History channel of D-Day being told by some of the brave men who were there. It was only by the grace of God that the mission ended in a success when so many things went wrong. I still, to this day, do not see how they mustered so much courage to carry on their noble feat. We owe them all so much…our very lives. A fellow Exchangite and I went down to Richard’s Coffee Shop and Military Museum yesterday and handed out some American flags to the veterans who were there. Sadly, a D-Day veteran that usually would have been there was buried the day before, but we left a flag with his picture. I will always be eternally grateful for our veteran’s unselfish service and ultimate sacrifice. Have you ever wondered what our world or our own country would be like today if the invasion on June 6, 1944 would not have been successful…we would probably be speaking German? I, for one, surely am glad they won the victory…I have enough trouble with the English language and I know that I could have never learned to speak German or Japanese. Well, this is the morning of June 7, 2014 and seventy years later than the fateful day of the Normandy invasion, but the sacrifices made on that day hopefully will never be forgotten. Be sure to share your knowledge of what you know of WWII with members of the younger generation or the much deserved appreciation of what those hallowed heroes have done to preserve our freedom will be lost forever. Thanks be to God for bringing so many of our fathers home to help raise us kids in peace and harmony. Thanks be to God for those who sacrificed their lives on foreign lands and were never to return to our hallowed American soil. Be sure to give thanks today that we live in the greatest country in the world and please pray that God will impart some of His wisdom to the leadership of our country. God Bless!!
