Good morning my friends. Well, I made it through another one of those marathon days. Got up early and hit the trail running and never stopped until we got home a 10:00 last night. Ergo, the reason I slept in this morning ‘til after 4:00. Vickie and I attended a book release last evening in Charlotte after meeting with our publisher in Ballantyne, south of the city. When we were leaving the event about 9:00 last night, I looked up at the Charlotte skyline and took a picture of the mist swirling around the top of the Duke Energy building. I sent it into WBTV and am curious if Ashley will show it this morning. It is a neat scene. Vickie and I had a most pleasant and informative meeting with Cathy Brohpy, president of Warren Publishing, yesterday afternoon. It looks as if we will be publishing our children’s book with them. We are so excited to finally realize the Christmas poem I wrote over forty years ago will be illustrated in color and come to life in a hard-cover book so that generations to come will be able to read and re-read the story every Christmas Eve. I can hardly wait to see it. Jean Barlow did an outstanding job capturing every scene in the story with her beautiful and enchanting illustrations. If I win the lottery, which by the way I don’t even play, we might even let them publish my latest novel, too, “Another Time Perhaps.” Who knows, maybe I’ll actually sell an original watercolor before hand, that would surely help. We were really impressed with the book release we attended last night. The book was published posthumously for Laura S. Moore who was blessed with the rare gift of making people laugh and the ability of making them feel better about themselves. I only had the pleasure of meeting Laura a couple of times, but she was one who could light up a room by just walking through the door. Her keen wit and insight came alive on stage last night by some very talented readers who shared some of the stories and poems that Laura had written. It was amazing to hear how she had the ability to make so many people laugh even in her absence. Laura was one of those persons who will be missed greatly, but never forgotten. It is so sad that someone with so much to offer was taken away from us at such a young age. I really don’t know how old Laura was, but anyone who is under fifty years of age is too young in my book. I evidently scheduled too much time between our meeting with the publisher and the book release. The time was not wasted however, we went to the South Park Mall and enjoyed our time there just walking around and people-watching. Of course, Vickie found a couple pair of shoes while she was at Belk and Dillard’s. And me, I found a cone of ice cream with my name on it at Chic-fi-la. See there, I got to buy something, too. District 6 of the North Carolina District Exchange clubs will be meeting at the Hampton Inn and Suites here in Mooresville from 11:00 until 2:00 this afternoon. Paul Summerville, our District Director, has really worked hard for Exchange and getting us all together for a workshop was one of his better ideas. Vickie has worked diligently on the District Exchange website and is going to share with the rest of us how to navigate the sight and to put it into good use. If you are interested in joining an organization that’s main focus is Child Abuse Prevention, Youth, Community Service, and Americanism, The National Exchange Club is for you. Come by today and see what we’re all about. Our local club meets the second and fourth Thursday every month. Give me a call if you are interested in finding out more about Exchange at 704-664-4122. Well, it’s after 5:00 now and time to go to work. I hope your day is filled with sunshine and you share your smile with someone who is in need of one. God Bless!!
