Good morning my friends. Well, the day has finally arrived that I - TopicsExpress

Good morning my friends. Well, the day has finally arrived that I reached a new milestone in my life…the beginning a new decade. It’s kind of frightening to start a new one since I passed fifty, which I did a couple of years back…well, maybe a little more than a couple of years back. The thing that bothers me about getting older is that my mind doesn’t believe it one bit, but my body really does and the two entities seem to argue a lot about it. When it’s time to get out of a chair, my mind says, “Jump up and get it done,” but my body says, “Will somebody come over here and help me get out of this thing?” It seems like the messages from my body seem to be winning out over my mind lately. As you know, I have been trying to exercise for the last year, but after getting my socks and gym shoes on and gasping for breath, I feel like my obligation for exercise for the day has been fulfilled. I was saddened to hear the news of one of my favorite actors, James Garner, had passed away. His role in the old TV show, Maverick, helped to make the show a great success and propelled James into stardom. He played comedy roles as well as westerns and detective roles with such great ease that it was difficult to believe he was working…but acting is really hard work. I will miss him greatly and will have to check some of his old films out and enjoy them all over again. Other memorable events took place on this special day in history…just forty-five years ago, there was some guys traipsing around on the moon. Can you believe it, forty-five years ago? I remember watching my old Zenith black and white console TV as Buzz and Neill were making history and all I was doing was just sittin’ in my recliner puttin’ on weight. Well, I suppose I need to get going and help Vickie get all the stuff taken to the gallery…she has all kinds of things going on for my birthday and hopefully all I’ll have to do is just some serious hugging. I can’t thank Vickie enough for making every day a special one, but she tends to go all out for making all my birthdays to be memorable, especially big birthdays like this historical one. I hope you all will come by the gallery today between 10:00 and 5:00 to say howdy and register for the free limited-edition print that we will be giving away at the end of the day. While you’re there, enjoy all the free food, hugs, and handshakes. We even have all my photographs on sale to thank you for coming in to say howdy. I’m making sure that the Breakfast of Champions, cheese crackers and ginger snaps, will also be on hand along with the cake and cup cakes that Lynette Thompson made and delivered last night. Please come and help us celebrate, there won’t be another birthday like this one for quite a while, so let’s enjoy this while we can. I want to thank the Mooresville/lake Norman Chamber or Commerce for coming by at 2:30 to add to the surprises. The folks at the Chamber always seem to be there to support us members on special occasions. I also want to thank all my friends for thinking of me on my birthday. The love and support of friends like you all mean so much to me and have been with me through thick and thin, so come by today and get a little thicker with me. Have a great day my friends and if you need some laughter in your life, just come by the gallery today. God Bless!!
