Good morning my friends. Well, there’s cold and there’s real - TopicsExpress

Good morning my friends. Well, there’s cold and there’s real cold! I think we hit real cold this morning. Last time I checked it was a frigid 15 in Charlotte and that’s a new record. It sure is a good thing that Al Gore’s Global Warming thing kicked in when it did or we could have been I deep trouble. If you ever look around and talked to a few people, you might notice that a lot of ‘em talk kind of funny. Well they can’t help it; they came all the way from the North Country to visit some kin down here in the sunny south and just never went home. I can’t say that I blame them, either. Our son-in-law and his family came from near Buffalo, New York after the blizzard of 1978. Personally, I’m glad they did, they are great folks. It looks like those poor folks up there in Buffalo are having another one of those things right now. Those folks could use our prayers and while you are praying for them, pray that the Good Lord keeps that snow up there; they are more use to coping with miserable weather than we are. I have Facebook friends in Florida, too, and bless their hearts; they share their warm temps with me every day. In spite of their gloating, I still love them because that is what God would want me to do. I’ll tell you what, though, I wouldn’t trade where I live right now for any other place on earth, regardless of the weather. Mooresville used to be the nearest thing to paradise on earth one could find, back when I was an innocent lad, but it surely has changed over the last several years. Who would have ever thought we would have traffic problems like we do today. The only time traffic backed up when I was boy was when a tractor or two was going from field to field and a few cars had to slow down a little bit. Sometimes our cows would get out and could be seen grazing beside the Statesville Highway and that would slow traffic down considerably, but motorists would often stop and even help us round them up and herd them back to Grandma’s. I watched one of the greatest movies of all times last night, Casablanca. I think it was about the either the tenth or the eleventh time I watched it. I just can’t understand why those folks in Hollywood can’t make some quality films like that anymore. There are just a few new movies that I will watch over and over again today. “Forrest Gump” and “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” are a couple of them. There is just entirely too much foul language and violence in movies today. It was a sad day for folks like me when John Wayne passed away. Thank the Good Lord that Robert Duval and Clint Eastwood are still with us. I still like the old Alfred Hitchcock movies, too, like Foreign Correspondent, North by Northwest, and the Birds. Oh well, it’s time to wind it up and go to work. Have a good day and try to stay warm. We have the heat on at the gallery and are putting in our Christmas window…you can stop by and help if you are up town. God Bless!!
