Good morning pilgrims and travelers on lifes highways. I had my grandmother on my mind last night Marie Gregory ( They called her Maaaaaarie ([all as pronounced long]. I often wondered as a child how one spelled Marrrrrrrie. Country folk foul up a name now. Im writing more about her in another book, but one of my favorite pictures is of her standing in the back yard with her 18 year old son Lewis Jack Gregory. I was organizing my thoughts for my article for my writing last night. I thought about all the parents with the Stars in the windows in Inman during WWII. My grandmother had four. One (Lewis) did not return from France. In turn I dreamed last night I was in some jungle basic training with my friend and room mate from Clemson who is a Brigadier General now in the army. He is Special Forces. Some parts of dreams are so real and they grab you, I wont bore you with what we were doing, but I recall looking at Jimmy in my dream and thinking, man if we hit the s%^t together I got your back, I know youve got mine, and in that second I know i felt the emotions that go through a soldiers heart and soul. Or I was as close as a layman can be. This is the one of the best songs I have ever heard written about our young soldiers. The star in the window, my friends faces, the picture of Lewis Jack, the imagined hurt of a mother, and knowing we are always in harms way caused me to dream what I did last night so realistically, and to post this song for my veteran friends and everyone this morning. Everyday is Veterans Day to me and many more. Please take time to hear this especially those have been there, or know someone who has. David Lambert, and other Semper Fi guys can relate th the Dress Blues, but everyone who fought knows the feeling. have a great day and be greatful. Spencer Bumgardner, this is for you too and all our veterans. https://youtube/watch?v=BSSaA7ymRhY
