Good morning po:) J ames Yap still in doubt for Rain or Shine match as pain on elbow lingers From: Snow Badua December 4, 2013, 10:36 pm SAN Mig Coffee superstar James Yap is still doubtful against Rain or Shine on Friday due to nagging pain in his sprained elbow, which doctors said needs more time to heal. The 32-year old guard told Spin.ph he still feels a stinging pain on his right elbow which he has endured for some time now but aggravated when it was hit by teammate Val Acuna in practice. “Hindi ko alam eh. Pero parang sprained daw. Kaya masakit pa rin. Matagal na ito eh. Nilalaro ko lang. Kaso tinamaan ng solid ni Val (Acuna) sa practice,” Yap said. “Naka-therapy na ito (injury). Pero hindi ko alam kung kelan mawawala yung pain. Sinisikap ko naman ilaro kaso sumasakit talaga,” added the pride of Escalante, Negros Occidental. The two-time league MVP said he tried out the elbow in practice on Wednesday afternoon, but never got to finish practice since the pain refused to subside. Yap has so far missed San Mig’s last game, although he also sat out the second half of his team’s second game of the season against the Petron Blaze Boosters because of the injury. “Sumakit na rin noon. Ayaw lang kasing mawala sa laro,” he said. A San Mig source, meanwhile, explained the true status of Yap, who he said is suffering from what is commonly known as ‘golfer’s elbow or tendinitis. “Masakit yang ganyang injury. Hindi mo halos maigagalaw yun kasi may parang tumutusok everytime mamali ka ng kilos,” said the source. “Matagal na niya iniinda yun. Ilang araw na siya hindi nakakapag-ensayo. Kaya day to day ang situation niya. Umiinom naman siya ng gamot. Kaya tignan natin how it improves,” he said. Meanwhile, longtime orthopedic expert Dr. Mark Macias told Spin.ph that tendinitis is a simple injury that will only heal with full rest. “Ang tendinitis, lahat ng tendon namamaga. Dapat para mawala yung pamamaga, kailangang i-rest yun. Dapat naka-sling. Pag nilalaro mo, lalong tumatagal,” said Macias, who is now the vice governor of Negros Oriental. “Normally, ang ganyang sakit. Pag fully rested, two to three weeks ang healing time. Kaso bumabalik ang maga nyan. Kaya kailangang i-rest ng todo,” he added. Macias also advised Yap to give his elbow some more rest. “Yung ganyan kasing tendon, naghihingi yan ng pahinga para maka-recover. Pagpinilit mo, pwede mong ilaro ng isang game … pero pwedeng mamaga uli,” added the Asian Hospital physician. Meanwhile, another injured San Mig starter, Joe Devance, is still listed as day to day because of anterior knee pain. spin.ph/sports/basketball/news/james-yap-still-in-doubt-for-rain-or-shine-match-as-pain-on-elbow-lingers Czar Julius
