Good morning teacher and hello everybody. As you know, nowadays, the more the world develops, the more polluted it will be. So there are many environmental problems. And today, we would like to tell you guys about noise and light pollution. But first, lets talk about the polluted noise. Noise is the unwanted sound. It either interferes with normal activities such as sleeping, conversation, or disrupts and diminishes one’s quality of life. Noise pollution affects both health and behavior. It can damage our psychological health and can cause high blood pressure, high stress levels, hearing loss,... and other harmful effects. The sources of noise can be from many activities, machines or vehicles. Gadgets like food mixer, vacuum cleaner, washing machine or air conditioners can be very noisy and injurious to health. Others include loud speakers of sound systems and TVs, ipods and earphones. Another example may be your neighbor’s dog barking all night everyday at every shadow it sees, disturbing everyone else in the apartment. Planes fly over houses close to busy airports or over ground and underground trains, vehicles on road,... these are also make a lot of noise. All we have to do now is to find the solutions for these issues. We can plant trees in or around the sound generating sources; design suitable absorbing material walls or windows with buildings. Another way to decrease the noise is construct the factories and industries far from the residential areas. The workers should be provided with equipments such as ear plugs and earmuffs for hearing protection. The next problem is light pollution. Light pollution is the alteration of light levels in the outdoor environment because of artificial sources of light. There are two types of light pollution: unpleasant light or low-light and excessive light. It is a dark side of industrial civilization. Its sources include building exterior, interior lighting, advertising, streetlights, and illuminated sporting venues. Too much light pollution has consequences: it washes out starlight in the night sky, interferes with astronomical research, disrupts ecosystems, causes bad health effects, wastes energy and money. However, the good news is that light pollution can be reduced easily by shielding lights properly, using light when and where it is needed with suitable amount and using energy saving bulbs. Moreover, the governments should propose some laws and punish who against them. All solutions are simple, so everyone can do. If all of us join hands together, our planet will become a better place. Let’s protect the environment and protect ourselves. Thanks for listening!
