By Margi Jenks Again this October, the Crater of Diamonds State Park will be all dressed up to celebrate fall with our Fall Festival. So, mark your calendars for Saturday, October 11, 2014! Beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 9:00 p.m., we will be hosting a family-friendly entertainment. The cost is just $4.00 per person. That entrance fee pays for a wrist ticket admission to the state park grounds, which we will turn into an old fashioned carnival of fun. Attractions include carnival games for all ages, food, craft vendors, live music, including a karaoke contest, and bounce attractions, and finishes off with a spooky hayride. We will have games for all ages of children to test their skill or luck, like a golf putting green, go fish, and a treasure box. Ten game tickets come with the $4.00 admission price. Additional game tickets are [CONTENT].50 each or 12 tickets for $5.00. This year’s bounce attractions are a 30-foot obstacle course for the older children and a 5-in-1 Sponge Bob bounce house for the younger children. Nashville, AR, radio station KMTB personality, Jonathan Canaday, and a local musical group will perform throughout the evening. At 5:30 p.m. Jonathan will host a karaoke contest. So, pick out your best song, and sign up with Jonathan at 800/295-2995 or 870/845-3601. We have some pretty nice prizes for the winners. Once again we will have craft and food vendor booths. Call Debbie Wright (870/285-3113) to reserve your spot. If you sign up by the end of September the booth fee will be only $20.00. After that the fee goes up to $25.00. Booth registration closed on October 8th. This year the booths are under a circus tent with lots of lighting. The hayride, from7:00 to 9:00 p.m., circles around our campground. Campers are invited to decorate their campsites. We will add some spooky features to make the ride fun. For more information about our Fall Festival carnival, call the park visitor center front desk (870/285-3113). We are looking forward to seeing you there!
