Good morning to all my brothers and sisters in the Lord, to all my - TopicsExpress

Good morning to all my brothers and sisters in the Lord, to all my friends. Well, here we are half way through another week. I do pray that this week thus far has been blessed and prosperous for you? This morning in the middle of the week I would like to speak to you for a few moments about something that is greatly misunderstood among Christians, “ humility.” Hear ye the Word of God, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:5-7) Notice in verse 7 Peter, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit says, “humble yourselves therefore.” Why should we believers humble ourselves? Because God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. Amen! Folks, Peter strongly advised or admonished the believers to humble themselves. Now this would be then and is now an act of the will, humility does not come naturally! But listen folks, when we believers humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, we are actually submitting to His care and protection. Amen? And please hear this, God resists the proud. He gives grace to the humble. Humility, more than anything else, is an attitude of the heart that says, I recognize I am not self-sufficient. I am open, I am teachable, and I am thankful. God, I am willing to bow my heart before You and confess that I am in utter need of Your assistance. Contrary to what some people say and think, humility is not to be equated with lack of courage. In fact, it takes great courage for a person to admit they have need. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is a sign of strength. “Praise God, thank you Jesus.” Did you notice that in verse six we are told to “humble” ourselves under the mighty hand of God? The reference to Gods mighty hand was often used in the Old Testament to describe Gods power. To truly humble ourselves, we believers need to accept lifes struggles as part of Gods providence. Come on now how about a amen here? You see we must humble ourselves even in the face of persecution because God will exalt us in due time. Now folks the that exalting may be in this life or in the next. But it will be in due time, that is in Gods perfect time. And you can bank on that. We must humbly obey God regardless of present circumstances, and in his good time, either in this life or in the next he will lift you up. Let us remember that Jesus humbled himself completely when he died on the cross! Therefore let’s humble ourselves before God! Loving You In Jesus Christ, Pastor David McGee
