Good morning to everyone in the Townsville Storms coverage area and abroad hope today, back to school day, has started for you on the right note and was not too hectic in your household this morning. Also hope the Australia day long weekend was a fun one for you. This post this morning is of a youtube link with thanks to Green Cross Australia partnered with the CSIRO. This 6 and a half minute video is a computer generated simulation of how a storm surge would behave in and around the Townsville area in the event a major category 5 cyclone like Severe TC Yasi crossed near the city. This link also goes into detail on how to prepare for a cyclone and what to do when the cyclone has passed, great information to have with over 3 months still to go in the wet and cyclone season . This link is good viewing for everyone on here at Townsville Storms. Whether you live on the coast or not or have lived in the tropics for decades and particularly if you are new to North and Far North Queensland and this is your first wet/cyclone season, there are some helpful tips on here for everyone out there for this time of year.
