Good morning to my friends and family. When I picked up The Red Deer Advocate this morning, on the front page was an article about the shortage of treatment facilities for dialysis patients at the Red Deer Hospital. Patients are being asked to travel to outlying areas to receive treatment and for some of them this is presenting a considerable hardship on top of the challenges that a dialysis patient contends with on a daily basis. I am very, very concerned that the Alberta Government is not addressing this issue in a more proactive and long term manner. Everything they are doing right now appears to be little more than plugging a very big hole with a very small plug. They need solutions that are going to be effective not just for now but in the future as well. Therefore, I took the time this morning to place calls to 3 MLA’s (who are sitting in the Legislature this week) to express my concern that this matter be addressed in a timely fashion.
