Good morning to you all, and a very happy St Patrick’s Day to you all, I hope you get a chance to celebrate it in some fashion today. A big welcome to the newcomers, we are now over 700 likes, I am so grateful so for me it’s another milestone reached. I love writing for the page, it is my own healing for my Soul. As it’s one of our favourite saints day I thought I would keep it traditional and share a small few facts about St Patrick. St Patrick was born in Scotland his father was a Deacon and his grandfather was a Priest. He was abducted and taken to Ireland as a slave to a High Priest in around the year 400 he was aged sixteen. He was taken to the north east of the country to herd sheep, he found prayer and is said when he dreamt he heard the cries of the Irish to free them from paganism, he is said to have used the three leaves of the shamrock to teach the divinity, as in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. One of the legends goes that one Easter night Patrick lit a bonfire on Slane Hill, which was unheard of as the High Kings was to be the first to light the bonfire; the High King sent a war band to kill the saint and quench the fire. But the fire could not be quenched and Saint Patrick and his followers passed the warriors in disguise of a herd of deer and they went onto defeat the royal druids at Tara in a contest of miracle working. Many of the Kings court bowed down to Saint Patrick and were converted, even though the High King was not one of these he did grant the Saint free speech and the right to preach freely to the people of Ireland. For many centuries people have fought and lost their lives in order to give us the teachings of God, understanding the freedom, peace and harmony it will bring to us. Today we have the freedom to choose and to live as we please, you would wonder why so many of us live in fear, anger and depression. I will leave you with a beautiful blessing from the wonderful John O’ Donohue, he also honours the Celtic roots within us and his writings are so magical. A Blessing May the light of your Soul guide you. May the light of your Soul bless the work you do with the secret love and warmth of your heart. May you see in what you do the beauty of your own Soul. May the sacredness of your work bring healing, light and renewal to those who work with you and to those who see and receive your work. May your work never weary you. May it release within you the wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration and excitement. May you be present in what you do. May you never become lost in the bland absences. May the day never burden. May dawn find you awake and alert, Approaching your new day with dreams, possibilities and promises. May evening find you gracious and fulfilled. May you go into the night blessed sheltered and protected. May your Soul calm, console and renew you. John O’ Donohue. Love and Light. Namaste _/\_
