Good morning to you all on this crisp winter morning. I trust that you are well, and that as we continue to journey together, we will find our hope and trust in the Lord. God bless you all Monday 23 June 2014 Reading: Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through? Reflection: I have referred to this verse so many times in the past, and today let us have a look at the meaning of this. God is faithful and He keeps His promises every time. There is not one promise that God has not kept. We as people, are unpredictable. We say one thing and do another. We make promises that we cannot keep. Afrikaans has a magnificent saying: beloftes maak skuld (promises made is a debt unpaid). When we make a promise we have an obligation to keep that promise. We owe it to the person to whom we have made that promise to keep it, and to do as we have said we would do. But then we refer to the fine print, and the T’s and C’s that come with it, and we find ourselves justifying why we should not keep the promise. Not so with God. He never forgets what He has said or what He has promised to do. If He has said that, then that He will do. We can rely on that, cling to and trust in the promises of God. In Genesis 3:15 He promised that He would send the Messiah to redeem us and to give us a way to come back to Him. He did that, and all we need to do is to accept that and believe in Him every day in every way Will you do that today? Breath-prayer: Thank you Father that you are not a man that you should lie! Thank you for always being there for us in every way! In Jesus name, Amen
