Good morning to you friends, on this Thursday (again!), the 16th - TopicsExpress

Good morning to you friends, on this Thursday (again!), the 16th of October. Here on the Garden Route, it is cool and cloudy with a 71% chance of rain, only reaching a predicted high of 17C. We hope for rain, especially in the interior of our country where farmers pray for rain so that they can start planting crops. I am reading a book currently about people being owned by people and that made me think of the whole concept of ownership. What/who do we own? How is it that some people think that the can or may own other people? Husbands think they own their wives (and sometimes vice versa)..parents think they own their children...employers think they own their employees. I actually have a problem with that, because I am of the opinion that only one Person owns me, and that is God and His son Jesus Christ, because He bought me and pay the highest price, by dying for me on the cross. He paid for me with His blood. Here on earth, I am not owned by anyone. Ownership implies that something belongs to me and the only things that belong to me are those things that I bought with money. I enter into relationship contracts with all other people and in doing that, we decide together on the terms of that contract. That leaves every person in that relationship free to make their own choices and decisions. Of course, when our children are born and growing up, they are dependent on us and we have to make decisions for them in their best interests. But when they grow up, we have to give them enough roots so that they can function on their own and independently and make responsible choices. In our relationships, we can not own each other...we may enter into a contract in which we decide together, what those terms should be to suit both our needs. The time of slavery does not exist anymore and nobody should be put in the position to feel owned by anyone. We have freedom of choice within an organized system of marriage, family, work, contracts, friendships etc. Do not allow anyone to take away your freedom of choice or to own you in any way. That is my little bit for today...and all because of a book. Take care friends.
