Good morning, weve had numerous questions and tons of support regarding the cities legal action against its own Bozeman Firefighters IAFF Local 613. The latest of the 3 legal hearings a few weeks ago has been ruled on; The firefighters have once again (for a 3rd time) WON as the court states; ...the cities motion to Stay is denied and rules in favor of the firefighters. The judges orders state a couple times that the city argued without any supporting evidence on the record The judge also quotes the Montana Supreme Court occasion in regards of how they city needs to negotiate in good faith. Not only did the Bozeman FireFighters win, but the judge made only a couple of small style changes and then adopted their proposed order in total. As the local news media reported prior to this hearing the City of Bozeman has spent approx. $100,000.00 (and rising) from the general fund and are using an attorney hired from Billings, MT. Prior to this hearing the city stated they would take this to district court. Similar battles have been fought by other Montana cities and twice taken to the Montana Supreme Court where the court again ruled in favor of the fire fighters. As the city and fire administration continue to meet and discuss options your Bozeman Fire Fighters will not be distracted from the task at hand; providing the residents and visitors of our community and beyond with the most professional and timely emergency services that they expect and deserve. We again THANK YOU for your kind words and support during this long process. Many citizens weve spoken with have showed concern of the cities fight and large amounts of money spent against their own firefighters. With so many other things we could be supporting and funding, departments like fire have experienced recent budget cuts to their funding such as cutting our succession plan training and other things this budget cycle. Thanks again for your support! as always if you have questions let us know and we will try to educate or explain whats occurring. Again their are NO changes to our service during this process! Were here for YOU 24/7/365 fully staffing all 3 houses running approx. 10-12 calls per day. You can also contact your local Bozeman city officials and voice your concern and support of your emergency services. Please stay safe, and we will do our best to keep you informed on this process. bozemanfirefighters.org/index.cfm?zone=/unionactive/view_article.cfm&HomeID=454132
