Good morning, yall! I want to share with you one of the sweetest - TopicsExpress

Good morning, yall! I want to share with you one of the sweetest experiences that I had this week. A wonderful lady that was my familys neighbor from 1964 passed away at 92 and I was privileged to attend her memorial service. I, like most of you, have attended the services for many people but this was different. One would think that by the time someone turns 92 that a gathering to remember them would be small...This service was very well attended but one of the things that made this morning special was that 5 neighborhood families were represented that morning...5 families. In the times we are living in, most of us do not live in a neighborhood long enough to make those connections. The truth is that those individual families very often celebrated holidays and birthdays together, they stepped in as family members during serious illnesses, and they walked through the grieving process when a family member was lost. I think that we are missing some of that today in our mobile society...One special moment during the service that I want to share with you...Ms Doolings daughter was reading a prayer during the service and she was having trouble getting through it so a voice came from a group of people who were attending from Savannah Grace where Ms. Dooling lived for a time saying, Bring that to my honey, I will read it for you. And she did...At the end of the prayer, she said that she will miss her little buddy. Even though my Dad still lives in the same house that he has been in since 1964, I still miss the neighborhood...the neighborhood that used to be and probably my simple childhood there with all of those families. I will forever love every one of them and feel very fortunate that they will probably love me too!
