Good news. As you will know, there has been a spate of break-ins and thefts of bicycles in the Portobello area in recent weeks. Four males have now been arrested and charged with multiple offences, with futher charges anticipated. From Police Scotland: Three males, two aged 17 and one aged 20, were caught red handed by officers from Operation Murgon, Edinburgh Division’s dedicated theft unit, last night attempting to force open a garage door in the east of Edinburgh. They will be appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today having been charged with 15 seperate thefts dating back 6 months. Officers from the east area have arrested and charged a 41 year old male with 15 crimes of breaking into houses and thefts from buildings in the Craigmillar, Portobello and Duddingston area of Edinburgh after he was identified from descriptions given by the public and some great detective work. The crimes have all occurred in the last year. The male will be appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff court later in November.
