Good news: I did yoga last night. Bad news: I may not be - TopicsExpress

Good news: I did yoga last night. Bad news: I may not be welcome back. I like to think of it as a big misunderstanding. What happened is I showed up late. Whatever. There was a sign on the door that said, Class in session. Do not disturb. So I went in. I mean, come on, I really wanted to give it a go, and what if this was the one time I actually followed through with my conviction to try yoga? Am I going to allow my plans to be derailed by the fact that Im 15 minutes late? No! Anyway, I sauntered in and found an empty spot at the back of the room (which was, of course, the furthest point from the door). I started following the instructors directions to the best of my ability (which means very little...if that makes sense...). I realized that no one else had shoes on, so I tried to shed mine between exercises. I also ditched my running jacket between exercises. At some point, the instructor resumed her position at the front of the class...which was right next to my assumed position....seems the instructor was actually at the back of the room when I entered...so I ended up in a very visible position, playing the yoga part of the Aflac duck. There was also that whole awkward thing with me only partially stifling howls as multiple muscles in my legs and feet randomly (but sequentially, and severely) cramped. I am proud to admit that when the instructor rang her little bell three times near the end of the session, and to me it sounded EXACTLY like the beginning of (Just Like) Starting Over by John Lennon, I resisted the urge to break into song. And another silver lining was that, upon realizing that everyone else had a mat, and I did not, and seeing an unused mat next to me, I did not claim it as my own; this was fortunate because it turned out to be the instructors. Anyway, I apologized to her at the end of the session, and I guess she had that whole Namaste thing going because she was really nice about it.
