Good news after the tragic loss of Mtoti the Cape clawless cub in Namibia. Kamiya, a Congo clawless cub that was raised in DRC by the Chapmans, Delphin, and Seco is thriving and beginning to rewild herself. Here is an excerpt from a recent email and a photo of Kamiya after she returned from two nights in the forest on her own. "With a full summer of guests, and many other projects to complete before school starts, our summer has flown by. And, sweet Kamiya has been a rock of stability throughout. Her daily routine has changed little: departing our house with or without one of us, just as early morning scatters across the sky, playing with us (sucking fingers) on her favorite place on the path, then down to the cool forest floor where she slips away down one of the spring rivelets. Then, back to our house on her own in the evening for a bite to eat and a quiet night at home. She appears to be quite happy, and remarkably consistent when Sico and Delphin remember the wild adventures Mazu took them on after we left her with them for a year. Perhaps us leaving her, and her vast change in routine was what precipitated her unpredictable behavior."
