Good night last night meeting up with a couple of old friends and comrades Paul Currey and Robert John Currey and Tony Mulhearn who like myself is still politically active. You forget just how momentous the eighties were, the Liverpool council campaign, the Miners strike and the Poll Tax campaign all in the space of 7 years. Although they were bad times for workers with savage attacks from the brutal Tory government of the time, for myself personally it was a great period of friendship and comradeship with many happy memories of some brilliant nights in the old Woolton Labour Club. A new generation of comrades now take up the cudgels and thats how it should be, wish i was that age again united with other Socialists in a common cause the memories are still strong and last night reminded me of them thanks to Jacqui Browne for organising a great night in aid of a worthwhile cause ( Marie Curie) you were brilliant im glad i went.
