Good night my friends and relatives. Hug those loved ones; they are all we have. Be kind to one another. My dad and brother William. Jim gone now to Creators side; mother too but love they left. These are difficult times for some of my friends and relatives so I will tell you why? Home Soon Could not sleep that night, Restless for that sacred light. Today we will see our father, Writing weekly to my mother. Three years gone, four more, My parents’ love I adore, That warm embrace I will get today, Only a few short days we are to stay. Miles and miles we drive, Not knowing when we would arrive. Finally get to Hudson Bay, Oh…what an exciting day! Hard to express our happiness, Where the priority is tidiness. Happy inside, cannot show on the outside, Driver is the abuser; today that’s the only downside. To Hudson Bay we arrive, Another day we survive. Dad has hiked to meet us today, I want to be like my dad someday. We begin our walk on that chilly day, Not caring our home is sixty miles away. I walk with pride today with spirit high, Soon with my loved ones I sigh. Sixty miles is not far, Looking up in the sky I see my star. My little brother Jim, five years old, Today he does not mind the cold. My brother Will, Proudly struts up each hill. Mile after mile the four men walk, Not once did we balk. Closer still we get to mother, Before the sun comes up I will see my other brother, Mile by mile, We continue to smile. Finally we see a cabin light, I sprint with all my might. Door burst open I see my mother, Holding in her arm my baby brother. Four more years, For now happy tears. That was my day that day, Only a few short days to stay. Learning again to love and care, At my little brother I would stare. Learning again to kiss and hug, With my brothers rolling on the rug. This is the time of year for many years, For a few days we can put aside our fears. For soon we would be home once more, Bit it would never be like before. For a brief time to learn of love, No one around to give us a shove, To relax and smile, No need in the morning to run that mile. Merry Christmas my brothers and sisters, You too suffered many winters. All my relations. Newcapowetung
