Well, after a generally quiet start to the week (except, of course, the badger incident on the first night) things started picking up in Gloucestershire today, with bigger numbers of anti-cull people turning up, along with more sightings of the baddies out and about in the zone. Various cull-operators were spotted out in the daytime pre-baiting or checking on setts (more info to follow at some point soon) followed by a greater number of police circling in Newent this evening and others trying to issue people with parking tickets who had temporarily parked sensibly up at the church in Eldersfield... while the police car got in the way of other vehicles. At least they were being polite or not trying to engage with anyone other than that! The boy-racers that many of you may be familiar with in the Newent carpark were heard shouting dont let them kill the badgers, dont let them kill the badgers! before racing off without being recruited! Sometimes difficult to tell when people are being genuine or sarcastic! Anonymous tip-offs have begun coming in from locals in the zone who are annoyed with cull-operator behaviour, so wed just like to remind everyone (even though there havent been any issues - thank you!) that not everyone within the cull zone supports or allows culling on their land (and even those who do have varying reasons for doing so...) so lets make sure we dont cause trouble for locals on a personal level like the cullers are doing! We were able to find a couple of shooters based on tip-offs (thank you nameless people!) and others due to being in the right place at the right time, autonomous groups thinking of good strategies for covering their areas as best as they can and working well together. Multiple shooters came out to support their shooter-mate in one area after he stood watching by a footpath with loaded gun in hand while another drove his vehicle at a sab from the Three Counties group. Police arrived and took details of anti-cull people while shooters shouted abuse at the sabs... cant say much more as the footage will be with our Police Liason person within the next few hours who can deal with it more effectively. Thanks to those who we called on for back-up and for the others who stayed guarding their own setts from other shooters. More reports coming in that shooters have been deterred or have run away from areas that we have a presence in, so well done again to everyone out there! Lee Peters was again spotted driving around the zone near to Ross-on-Wye with some mates, as was expected... but we wont mention him too much more as we dont want his ego to grow bigger than it already has. If you see a white Events Hire vehicle with reg plate RE04 HMY or a black Navara with hunting stickers and reg plate T11 CJW itll be him, so ignore away! More updates coming soon.
