Good ol Texas. Actually it is interesting to read into the piece to see the specific instances cited by the study critical of the book. Sean Haskett and I were talking just yesterday about the supposed centrality of the fostering of critical thinking in formal education. One gets to see the machine at work, so to speak. Mythic, heroic, celebratory, and ideologically acceptable seem a better way to characterize the desired outcome than critical thinking. (The article by the way doesnt mention how the publishers were constrained by the Texas curriculum.) Defenders of TX claim the study is itself biased - you know, those dang liberals - but the specifics cited in this article are telling. washingtonpost/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2014/09/12/proposed-texas-textbooks-are-inaccurate-biased-and-politicized-new-report-finds/
