Good plan, we think - IMMIGRATION New Zealand has reduced the backlog of work permit applications in Queenstown from 360 at the start of the year to 200 this week. Visas now take about 25 days to process. The department’s new manager for Queenstown and Dunedin is Neill Rhodes, who says his office is working with Christchurch office to clear the backlog. It is important that tourism businesses supporting work visa applications ensure that foreign language ability is included in the job description, where this is deemed an essential skill, INZ says.
