Good share, Duck Baker. Blind Willie Johnson is included in a recording on the interstellar disk on NASA Voyager III (along with prominent music composers of various styles) launched in 1977. He was a haunting gospel-blues guitar player and singer: in the blues style, but with strong religious content. The late John Fahey (who I opened for twice) once described how he listened to a Johnson recording for the first time and burst into tears. Don Groble of Chicago (according to Ken Babbs) once said of Johnson: “I LOVE Blind Willie Johnson’s stuff, it’s real spooky, and if the aliens get a hold of this stuff, they’re either gonna get real scared and destroy our planet, or spooked real good and we’ll never see’em.” Also check out the Yoyager Golden record for wonderful slide playing on Dark was the Night :https://youtube/watch?v=V8AuYmID4wc
