Good start to a new year Today it supposed to be the day I was born some 43 years ago. It is true that so many years have passed by and it is certainly true that I don’t have guarantee of living for another year. In fact I don’t even have guarantee that I will be able to finish this post. But I live with the hope that God will grant me His Grace and empower me with strength to be able to continue in my life’s mission – to inform, inspire and influence change in the world in a positive and constructive way. Today my day started at 6am, I woke up and got ready for a full day. My first appointment was at 8am at the BBC studios for an interview with the BBC World Service talking about positive aspects of Islam and our online TV station called Alchemiya. They were extremely excited about it and wanted to know more. The presenter and the guests in the studio were excited to hear that we are going to broadcast the best of Islam. I then rushed to teach my two beloved children Quran. It is hard for me to be without them, they are currently abroad but teaching continues using Skype. I love teaching my children everything especially the Quran, the love of my life. Nothing in the world, no words or speech affects me so much as the words of God do. My pains, fears and anxieties are washed away when I hear or read the Quran. I feel inspired, uplifted and motivated when I reflect on the words of God. I am now traveling to Birmingham to attend a fundraising event in aid of the flood victims of Pakistan. I pray that my little effort counts as a small contribution towards the relief of the pain and suffering of the poor, needy and destitute people of the world. Today, on my birthday I have been given the best gift and the opportunity to do all the three things that I love doing most: 1. Learning and sharing the message of the Quran, 2. Broadcasting and 3. Philanthropy or charity work. What a start to my 43rd year! On this day I wish and pray that I am able to grow more spiritually, gain more knowledge, become wiser, lead a good and decent life for the benefit of all people and remain a good and loyal to friends, loving and responsible son to my parents, brother to my siblings, father to my children and husband to my wife.
