Good story on the leader of Thug Nation. Stand up to him Detroit Lions and let him know his actions are WRONG. Drew Sharp: Lions should stand up to Ndamukong Suh, discipline him Sunday By Drew Sharp, Detroit Free Press Columnist | Updated 7h ago Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (Photo: Tim Fuller USA TODAY Sports) Cold feet? Really? Apparently, Ndamukong Suh couldnt distinguish the difference between Aaron Rodgers flesh and bones and the freezing Lambeau Field grass last week in Green Bay because his feet went numb in the Frozen Tundra temperatures. According to an ESPN report quoting anonymous sources, Suh used the cold feet defense in his successful appeal against a one-game NFL suspension for inappropriately planting a cleat on Rodgers leg as the already injured Packers quarterback lay prone on the ground. But its the NFL with cold feet. Its the Lions with feet of clay. FREEP Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh wont talk about Aaron Rodgers incident The aftermath of this capitulation is the continued enablement of a self-absorbed miscreant. Great players more easily get away with grating personalities. But that Suh could selfishly place the Lions quest for that elusive second playoff victory in 58 years at such grave risk with his intolerable actions against Rodgers once again raises grave concerns about his trustworthiness. The NFL caved, finding some obscure codicil within the fine print of its collective bargaining agreement that justified reinstating Suh for Sundays playoff game in Dallas. It seems that Suhs moonwalk on Rodgers leg came in his first game removed from NFL disciplinary probation. Theres a rule that few heard of until Tuesday. If a player goes 32 games since his last league reprimand, he cant be classified as a repeat offender. Can NFL teams trust Ndamukong Suh? 05:22 How convenient. Jim Caldwell declined to comment on the specifics of Suhs defense to independent arbitrator Ted Cottrell, saying that the league has a review process predicated on confidentiality. But that doesnt preclude Caldwell from enforcing his own justice for disciplinary lapses. He sat running back Joique Bell for the first quarter in Chicago two weeks ago for an unspecified violation of team rules. He sent defensive tackle C.J. Mosley home from London for disciplinary reasons. He benched safety James Ihedigbo at the start of the second half against the Packers last week due to his poor first-half performance. Caldwell should bench Suh through the first quarter against the Cowboys. He wont, though. Nobody in this organization stands up to Suh. They fear alienating him. Hes free to leave the Lions following this season should they balk at franchise-tagging Suh for a 2015 salary cap-paralyzing cost of around $37 million that includes more than $9 million in dead money from previous contract restructurings. Caldwell said this latest blotch on Suhs player conduct record doesnt compromise his trust in Suh. FREEP Cold feet? Lions weigh in on whether theirs were, too I think one thing is that were all human, he said. I, for one, and several others in this (interview room), I would say, have made mistakes in their lives. Nobodys demanding Suh behave like a Boy Scout. Its football. Ugly stuff happens. But stupid stuff shouldnt, especially if the head coach has repeatedly preached discipline and accountability. Would it have killed Suh after backing onto Rodgers leg to turn around and say, Sorry, man, didnt mean it? It isnt asking too much that Suh limit his disruptiveness to fighting through double teams, busting up running plays and relentlessly harassing quarterbacks prior to the whistle. Instead, Suh unnecessarily created a distraction as the Lions prepare for the defining moment of their season. Win a playoff game and its a successful season. Lose, and its a failed season. Its that simple. The primary issue remains Suhs stubborn unwillingness to acknowledge that hes not above the team, drawing even more attention to whether his immense talent is worth the truculent behavior once his contract expires following the Super Bowl.
