Good thing baby Blue’s birthday isn’t for almost another year. Her papa, Jay Z, may have to pay a pretty steep bill thanks to some recent legal snares. Jay’s facing charges of copyright infringement over his Roc-A-Fella logo, reports the New York Daily News. But that’s not because of the famously wealthy family who made the name famous. It’s clothing designer Dwayne Walker who has a beef with the “Holy Grail” singer. He claims Jay and his former business partner, Damon Dash, never gave Dwayne the 2 percent royalties they offered him back when Roc-A-Fella was created in 1995. For over 18 months, Jay Z and the other defendants have done everything they can to avoid swearing under oath to the events that led to the creation of the logo,” Dwayne’s lawyer, Gregory Berry, said in a statement. With the decision … the defendants’ tactics must stop, and Mr. Walker’s quest for justice can move forward.” If Dwayne gets his way, that quest for justice will end with a pot of gold. He’s suing for $7 million, a sizable sum we’re sure gets the attention of a music mogul like Jay Z. The suit, which was originally filed in 2012, may result in Jay Z giving a deposition now that Manhattan Federal Judge Ronald Ellis has ruled the case can move forward.
