Good to look at the past too! Always thought this was amazing.... From history classes. About Adams & Jefferson dying. Fifty years after the Declaration of Independence. On the same day. On July 4th!! Its just too much! On the other big post, theres a condolence letter written after John Adams wife Abigail passed on. It was written by Jefferson to John Adams. So, with this brief portion of the letter, a commemoration of their departure 188 years ago -- on this date! The public papers, my dear friend, announce the..event.. ..I know well, and feel what you have lost, what you have suffered, are suffering, and have yet to endure. [I mustnt speak much] where words are vain.. [But it] is of some comfort to us both, that the term is not very distant, at which we are to deposit in the same cerement, our sorrows and suffering bodies, and to ascend in essence to an ecstatic meeting with the friends we have loved and lost, and whom we shall still love and never lose again.
