Goodbye To My Riley This is something I thought I would not have to write for a long time, but tonight I had to say goodbye to my little Riley. The past couple months his health has been declining with a lot of lethargy, and loss of his spark. Over the last few weeks he had lost his vision and was stumbling a lot with increased confusion and he had just lost interest in everything. He did have a few incidents over several months of getting into some bad foods, but he has always done that. The last couple weeks he hasnt shown joy in much of anything and wanted to sleep most of the time. I am starting to wonder if he had a tumor or something else neurological going on, something that turned a vivacious tenacious dog into an old dog very quickly. Tonight I took him to the vet because he got into something in the cupboard and we had to make him vomit and beyond what would be normal sickness he was in a great amount of distress and pain. The vet took all his vitals and listened to how he had been declining. They could tell he was in pain and couldnt see, also they said his body temp was only 97 when it should have been 101 and he was very cold. Tonight I made the hardest decision because I felt my baby was suffering and had been for some time. I am in shock and pain right now and this doesnt feel real. I will miss my snuggle buddy, my biking companion, my little shadow my constant friend.
