Goodwill -- a tax exempt, non-profit company, receives hundreds of millions of dollars a year from the government -- in addition to the physical donations it receives from citizens. When asked about the disparity between paying their workers below-minimum wages, some as low as 22 CENTS an hour, and paying regional CEOs $500,000+ (some over a million!) a year, the CEO of Goodwill International said (of the workers), Its typically not about their livelihood, its about their fulfillment. Its about being a part of something and its probably a small part of their overall program. I certainly hope the CEOs are getting fulfillment from their jobs as well.
