(Gordon) Resident runs over robber A homeowner drove into a fleeing robber to halt his escape recently. At about 3.40am, a resident in Hughes was fast asleep in his bed when he was woken by a noise in his house. According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the complainant got out of bed to investigate and saw four suspects in his house. "He shouted at them and they started running away," she says. "He then jumped into his vehicle and gave chase after the suspects. While giving chase the complainant saw one of the suspects pull a firearm out and point it at him, so he bumped into the suspect with his vehicle," adds Coetzer. She says that the suspect sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Tembisa Hospital for treatment under police guard. The other three suspects managed to flee the scene. "A firearm was retrieved from the scene and a case has been opened at the Boksburg North Police Station."
