Gordon Trucking Inc. answered the call when the Midwest Food Bank initiated relief efforts by reaching out to members of the Indiana Motor Truck Association shortly after hearing the news of the Oklahoma tornadoes. The carrier helped move relief supplies and family food boxes from Indianapolis to Oklahoma for the victims of the tornado. A family food box contains food and personal care products for a family of four-to-five for five days. Each trailer holds 750 boxes. The food bank is also sending pallets of bottled water. The first two loads of boxes were delivered within days of the disaster, with additional loads arriving the following week. “We are honored and proud to be part of the nationwide relief effort for the victims of Oklahoma’s tornado disaster,” said Brett Terchila, area vice president. “It’s crucial that we all do our part in helping those affected by the tornadoes. I’m happy to see how GTI has stepped in to do just that.” Founded as Gordon Fast Freight in 1946 with just two trucks, Gordon Trucking is the 22nd largest truckload carrier in North America and the 64th largest for-hire carrier overall with over 2,500 employees and 1,900 trucks. The carrier offers local, regional and trans-continental truckload services within the U.S. and to and from Canada including temperature control and regional heavy-haul service.
