GoshPa reflection for the week of November 2, 2014 Probably a little early in the day to post a reflection with so much day left to go but my heart is full and I need room to put more inside today. So here goes!! Follow your heart. I always believed that was what I was doing in my life. Music, family, church, activities, hobbies, sports. Going where I could laugh, smile and feel loved. Suddenly, four months ago it all went to empty. A betrayal of my own promises to my own self confronted me. Years of self-abuse had left me lost and very unhappy. Watching someone else betray as they were trying to find the same things hit me with a life lesson: you cant follow your heart if you dont know your heart. To know your heart is to simply not be distracted by what others want for you but to choose a life of service, heart, hope, God and ultimately, love. There are numerous interpretations of what that may mean. To become a monk, hermit, partner, husband or wife, alone, or .... In my transition to the last third of my life, I realized I had to know my own heart well. To seek a higher powers guidance and then seek those who would join, joyfully in the journey without care that anyone would approve. I am reminded of one of my favorite secular but in fact very sacred poems The Coolin. Come with me, under my coat, and we will drink our fill of the milk of the white goat, or wine if it be thy will. And we will talk, until talk is a trouble, too, out on the side of the hill; And nothing is left to do, but an eye to look into an eye, and a hand in a hand to slip; and a sigh to answer a sigh; And a lip to find out a lip! What if the night be black! And the air on the mountain chill! Where all but the fern is still! Stay with me, under my coat! and we will drink our fill of the milk of the white goat, out on the side of the hill! GoshPa is open. So worth the effort! It is a bubble in the sky of His creation. Follow your heart but first know your heart well. Love someone and serve them with all your being. Makes the journey so worthwhile!! My heart to you all!
