Gospel Workshops International Music School in Brooklyn, NY Workshops and Classes information HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Every week beginning in January 2015, Gospel Workshops International (GWI) will be offering masterclasses $25 per group session (4hrs) for solo singers looking to improve( 10 person limit per session), GWI Rocks $30 (2hr group session) for those who just like to sing or want to experience singing in a choir setting, and private lessons $50 an hour. Learn music theory, learn vocal technique, sing in different music genres, and just have fun! Please contact Timothy Riley by phone if you have any questions. 414-233-6278 MASTERCLASS: (capacity MAXIMUM 10 students ) The masterclass is a 4 hour class for singers who have experience singing as soloists and would like to improve their performance. Each student will receive a block of time at which time they will sing a prepared song and receive positive critiques on how to improve the performance and the song. A notepad, writing utensil, and a song (playback, sheet music, or a Capella) is required for this class. $25 for 4hr session GWI ROCKS: (capacity MINIMUM 10 students) GWI Rocks is a choral class open to anyone who thinks they have some level of singing ability and would like to come and sing in a group setting to build confidence, learn different genres of music( although the primary focus will be gospel ), learn about vocal technique, and just have fun. An open mind, a recording device, a decent singing voice(all voice parts welcome with preference to soprano alto and tenor) and a fun spirit are all thats required for this class. $30 for 2hr session PRIVATE LESSONS: (capacity 1 student) Private voice lessons are for people who would like to formally train their singing voice by learning different vocal and breathing techniques and theory. This training would be applied to a musical repertoire that the student or voice teacher would choose to work on. Group ensembles of 6 or less can also be classified and organized under private lessons. $50 for 1hr session ($5 deduction per person in group ensembles. For example 1 person $50, 2people $45 per person, 3people $40 per person, 4people $35 per person, etc) HOURS OF OPERATION: M-Th 1-6pm Fr 1-5pm Sat. 9:30-11:30am PLEASE PLAN YOUR LESSON TIME WITHIN THESE TIMEFRAMES PLEASE NOTE: All lessons MUST be paid in advance. Cancellation refunds/rescheduling ONLY allowed on 24hr notice. If you cancel ON THE DAY OF, you forfeit your lesson and payment. Also, allow for flexibility as scheduling is subject to change. Studio Address Scholes Street Studio 375 Lorimer St Brooklyn, NY 11206 Directions to Scholes Street Studio by subway Scholes Street Studio is on the ground floor of the red brick townhouse at the corner of Scholes Street and Lorimer Street. The studio entrance is at 375 Lorimer. L Line From anywhere on 14th Street in Manhattan, take the L train to Lorimer Street (second stop in Brooklyn). Stay in the FRONT of the train. This will bring you to the exit at Metropolitan Ave. and Lorimer St. Walk down Lorimer away from Metropolitan and toward Devoe, for a total of 8 short blocks, to the corner of Lorimer and Scholes. G Line Get off at the Broadway stop. The exit is at Broadway and Union. Walk up Union toward Walgreens for a total of 3 blocks. Turn right on Scholes Street and walk to the end of the block, to the corner of Scholes and Lorimer. J, Z, M Line Get off at the Lorimer stop (3rd stop in Brooklyn after crossing over the Williamsburg Bridge). The exit is at Broadway and Lorimer Street. Lorimer is not well-marked here; just look for the tall apartment buildings. Walk up Lorimer toward the tall apartment buildings. Continue walking up Lorimer past a park and ball field for a total of 4 blocks to the corner of Lorimer and Scholes. Driving Parking is usually available on the street, especially on the Lorimer side of the building.
